The effort between Martin Marietta and House of Refuge was recognized by an ARPA Community Excellence Award as seen here with Robb Vander Schaaff, general manager for Arizona ready mix.
Martin Marietta’s West Division recently supported House of Refuge, a Mesa, Arizona, nonprofit that provides transitional housing and services for families experiencing homelessness.
The team donated concrete for a major renovation project to replace aging roads and more than 70 carport driveways. The effort helped improve safety and accessibility throughout the community.
“We saw it as an amazing opportunity to help our neighbors,” said Senior Sales Representative Raúl Villegas. “It is a wonderful cause and reflects Martin Marietta’s goal of making a positive impact in our community.”
The effort earned the Arizona Ready Mix District a Community Excellence Award from the Arizona Rock Products Association (ARPA). Perhaps most meaningful, however, was a thank-you note from a child who benefited from the project.
“Everyone is really happy that you took time out of your day to fix our community, roads and driveways,” the letter begins. “Thank you so, so, so much!”
