C. Howard Nye

Mr. Nye has served as Chair of the Board since 2014, President of Martin Marietta since 2006, and Chief Executive Officer and a Director since 2010. He previously served as Chief Operating Officer from 2006 to 2009. Prior to joining Martin Marietta in 2006, he spent nearly 13 years in progressively senior leadership roles with Hanson PLC, including as Executive Vice President of its North American building materials business.

During his tenure as Chief Executive Officer, Martin Marietta has grown into one of the nation’s leading suppliers of aggregates and heavy building materials, significantly expanding its scale, geographic reach and product portfolio.

Since 2018, Mr. Nye has served on the Board of Directors of General Dynamics Corporation (NYSE: GD), a global aerospace and defense company. In 2019, Forbes named Mr. Nye one of America’s Most Innovative Leaders.

Mr. Nye is a past Chairman of the National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA), the American Road & Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA), and the North Carolina Chamber. He also served as co-Chair of the NC Future Investment Resources for Sustainable Transportation Commission (NC FIRST Commission), a bipartisan body established to evaluate North Carolina’s long-term transportation investment needs and funding strategies. Mr. Nye serves on the Board of Directors of the United States Chamber of Commerce and on the boards of UNC Health and RTI International.

Mr. Nye received a bachelor’s degree from Duke University and a law degree from Wake Forest University.
