Rocky Mountain Managers Enhance Skills Through Inaugural Leadership Academy

Nearly a dozen up-and-coming Rocky Mountain Division employees recently became the first group to complete the Leadership Academy. Those who attended the 14-month class were selected by Division President Pat Walker with input from the division’s top leaders, said John Byars, the division’s HR director.

Once selected, they met monthly at the Quivas office in Denver, where they identified and strengthened the leadership skills needed for effective management, Byars said.

“Overall, they really worked to develop and enhance their abilities,” he said. “These people are among our most talented and their contributions have already been felt at Martin Marietta. As their work continues and their skills grow, the company’s position is going to become that much stronger.”

The division’s second Leadership Academy is currently being organized. It is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2017.
