FRAUD ALERT: Beware of Hiring Scam

We have recently received several calls from individuals reporting that they have been the victim of a hiring scam by a person using our company name and logo, and the names of several employees.

The unknown person poses as a recruiter for Martin Marietta, often using an actual employee’s name. The “recruiter” informs the victim that he or she has been hired and that they will be mailed a check and should deposit the check to purchase office supplies. The position supposedly offers a work-from-home administrative opportunity.

Individuals have mostly been contacted via Google Hangout, but they have also been contacted by phone, often requiring a phone interview or requesting personal information.

If you believe you have been asked to participate in one of these scams, please report the incident to the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center at, and terminate contact with the scammer.
